VPS Connection Guide
When
connecting to your VPS server to perform administrative tasks
you should always connect using a secure protocol (such as SSH,
SFTP, or SCP). Direct connections using the root user are not allowed.
A guide listing below is provided with the most common protocols
and which users to use for that service.
| VPS Service |
Users (What Users can log into service) |
| SSH |
|
| Telnet |
We strongly discourage the use of Telnet service since passwords and all other information is transmitted insecurely. SSH is a secure alternative.
|
| SFTP, SCP |
|
| FTP |
We strongly discourage the use of FTP service since passwords and all other information is transmitted insecurely. SFTP, SCP, and SSH tunneled FTP are secure alternatives.
